ABOUT SMART START PRESCHOOL

Getting Started:

Smart Start Preschool is owned and operated by Julie and Greg Thomas of Chico, CA. Julie is a credentialed teacher who was born and raised in Chico. Greg, a local businessman, grew up in Durham before moving the short distance to Chico. Julie attended local schools and upon graduation from Chico State began teaching in Yuba City, CA. After teaching for 6 years, the demands of commuting with three small children at home led Julie to look for a way to bring her love of teaching and her family together. With the help of her husband Greg, Julie pursued the idea of opening a preschool in her home town. Two long years later, Julie’s vision for a high-quality preschool has become a reality.

Our Philosophy:

At Smart Start Preschool we provide a loving, enriching environment to meet your child's physical, emotional, and developmental needs. We offer an atmosphere where children have the freedom to explore and interact with others while learning new skills and concepts. Teachers will stimulate thinking and reasoning skills in children through activities that develop hand-eye coordination and support their cognitive development. Children will obtain social skills through play and interaction with others that will be important in their future academic endeavors. Most importantly, we want your child's experience at Smart Start Preschool to leave them with social awareness, positive self-esteem, and an academic foundation from which to build upon.

Programs:

Smart Start Preschool strives for excellence and in addition to our preschool program we are proud to offer a high-quality Kindergarten readiness program for children preparing to enter Kindergarten. We also offer an interactive after school program that will provide help with homework, planned activities, and games in a safe, loving environment.
